Crowned by Apple as one of the Best iPad Apps of 2012, and one of the Mac Apps of the Year in 2011, iA Writer is the number one focused writing app in the App Store. With over 1,000,000 copies sold, Writer has helped students, journalists, and bestselling authors to find more pleasure in working with text.
As soon as you type the title bar disappears and all you see is the clean typing sheet, distraction-free, ready for your ideas to take shape. With innovative features like Focus Mode and the famous keyboard bar for iPad and iPhone, built on exceptional typography, iA Writer lets you keep your hands on the keyboard and your mind in the text.
I worked closely with Oliver R., the founder and owner of iA on typography, keyboard, iconography, website and marketing materials amongst other things.
We redesigned the entire web presence for the Swiss apparel brand Freitag, worked closely together with an external development team for the implementation and also helped to adapt the new design to other erea of the business. The growth in sales performance returned the investment on design within three months.
I was part of the team that redesigned a Japanese local airline that ranged from Uniforms, Airplane interiors to the exterior. After initial workshops, we would define tagline, colors and photography. Once that was approved, we would start the logo ideation phase.
Due to a large decision panel, it took us a long time to come up with the final logo type and symbol. Designing the signage, letterheads and other corporate collatoral went much smoother.
For the interior design and the uniforms, we collaborated with Teague and Boeing.
The rebranding was implemented and launched in 2011.
Signage for Retirement Facility
The carrier of the signage is a frame, a common object in every home. The adaptability of the frame style is the key of this signage since it's planned to be installed in 3 buildings that are entirely different in their architectural style. Based on a modular system, the arrangements of the frames avoid uniformity and make every installation look unique.
The adaptability and modularity of this signage system is ideal for its purpose of leading the way for visitors without interfering in the homely atmosphere of the inhabitants.
A collaboration between Aline Dallo, Julia Kind, Tina Staeheli and Kathrin Urban, former students of the University of Arts Zurich (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, ZHdK), Switzerland.
The project started off as a class internal contest in 2008. As the winners of the contest, our group was hired by the retirement facility «Alterszentrum Hottingen» in Zurich to execute the project (2009-2011).
